Translating Horses: An Evening of Equine Behaviour and Welfare

This January the 3rd year Equine Behavioural Science students are hosting a seminar on equine behaviour and welfare as one of our final assignments. The night will be running from 6:15pm on the 26th of January until 9:30pm and will consist of talks from all our students, a raffle and 30-minute break with refreshments supplied for you!

There will be a variety of talks from sensory perception in horses, body language, recognising pain and discomfort to giving you greater understanding on what positive reinforcement is and how you can incorporate into your horses’ lives.

A raffle will be running throughout the night, with tickets also available to purchase online. Some of the prizes will include: vouchers from equine para-professionals for consultations such as equine behavioural advice to gifts from out equine feed partners here at Writtle such as a Dengie horse feed voucher!

We are running this event in support of our chosen charity: Remus Memorial Horse Sanctuary. Remus are a horse sanctuary based in Ingatestone who provide “lifetime help and care for horses, ponies and more” often who are victims of mental or physical abuse and in need of a quiet and safe home to live out the rest of their lives. Remus give the horses a safe and environmentally suitable home while providing essential health care, farriery and more. Remus is funded only through public donations and fundraising. All money raised will go towards supporting the horses, along with providing hay and rebuilding after damage they received in a storm last spring.
